Discounts for LGBTQIA+ fiction
Applies to edits booked before July 2026.
Check out the different editing steps here. You can also read my services page to see what you can expect to receive.
Developmental evaluation: flat fee of $350 (available in other currencies, no extra charges) for up to 80,000 words. If your manuscript is longer, each additional 10,000 words is an extra $40.
Developmental edit: $0.012 per word (about half my usual rate). The typical rate among editors is around $0.03 per word, according to the EFA survey (https://www.the-efa.org/rates/). As an example, for a manuscript of 80,000 words, you’d get the edit for $960 (instead of $2,000 for my usual rate, or $2,400 for an edit at $0.03 per word).
Line edit: $0.01 per word (half my usual rate). The typical rate among editors varies from $0.025 to $0.04 per word, according to the EFA survey (https://www.the-efa.org/rates/). A manuscript of 80,000 words would be $800.
These discounts are only available by booking directly with me. Third party platforms like Upwork are not eligible. You can use the contact form to talk to me about your project and see if we’re a good fit. We can either chat by email or hop on a free zoom call (max. 20 minutes) to assess your project’s needs before we move forward and sign the contract.
If your budget is tight, we can discuss options to divide up the payment into manageable chunks. The idea behind this discount is to help marginalised authors afford professional editing. So whatever flexibility I’m able to offer, I’m happy to. I’d love to get a chance to edit your incredible stories!
For the purpose of this discount, LGBTQIA+ fiction is defined as a novel with an explicitly queer main character. The plot doesn’t need to revolve around queerness, so long as there are LGBTQIA+ themes present. The book doesn’t have to contain romance. All fiction genres are welcome. As for age categories, I only accept young adult, new adult, and adult fiction, as I’m not currently qualified to edit middle grade and below. If you’re not sure your manuscript qualifies or have any other questions, feel free to reach out.
